Saumen Halder

Personal Introduction: Saumen Halder is a marginal farmer lives at Doctorgheri village under the Konkondighi Gram Panchayat in Mathurapur Block II. His family consists 5 members.

Problem statement: He is a small farmer and somehow managing their livelihood by cultivation of his 2 bighas of land. He becoming worried as agricultural productivities is decreasing day by day. He decided to migrate to city for hunting job for their survivals. Accordingly, he went to Andhrapradesh as agricultural labour for six months November 2023 to April 2024, but unfortunately, he returns home as not getting his full wages on time to send money at home for family survivals.

Support provided by the project: He was puzzled for their survivals. In the meantime, the project personnel meet him and request to attend the meeting conducted by the project at his village. After attending various climate change adoptive agricultural meeting, he motivates to adopt for climate change agriculture. He realized that to reduce production cost; it is mandatory to keep soil test to know deficiency disorders of soil and work accordingly for safe good health of the soil and also prepare and use of organic manure.

Result: Accordingly, Saumen Halder started to prepare the organic manure and using on his cultivation land. He also done his soil testing. He received 12 verities of vegetable seeds from the project and cultivated on his own land. His agricultural productivities become profitable by using compost manure and less use of chemical. The vegetables use for his family and surplus sold at the local market and gets profits of INR seven thousand during last harvesting.
