Palli Unnayan Samiti (PUS) , registered office C/o Bishop’s House, Baruipur, Dist. 24 Parganas South, West Bengal, is the social service society of The Catholic Diocese of Baruipur, operating since its inception in the year 1978 , working in the District of South 24 Parganas. In the initial stage relief and charity approach was adopted to rehabilitate the women and children in their accepted respectable social status. Later on the Philosophy and working approach has gradually shifted its stand from charity to sustainable development. The objective of the organization has been to bring about change in people's attitude and enhance their capacity for meaningful participation in their development. PUS believes through empowerment of the people specially the women folk, it is possible to guide the communities to initiate their own development process, actualize democratic concepts viz human rights, dignity of person and social justice, especially among the poor and the marginalized.
To contribute to the enjoyment of disabled children in the districts of South 24 Parganas of a full and decent life, in conditions which ensure dignity, promote self-reliance and facilitate the child’s active participation in the community according to the Art 23 of the CRC
